NTL: The commercial activities

National Tubes Limited is established in the private sector in 1964. It was nationalized and placed under BSEC (Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation). The enterprise was transformed into a public limited company in 1989 by offloading 49 percent shares to the general public. The company is now managed by a sovereign Board of Directors. The factory was situated was on the Dhaka-Mymenshingh highway on 14.31 acre land 131-142 Tongi Industrial Area -20 km north of the capital city. The total present manpower is 392. The present attainable production capacity of NTL is 10000 to 15000 metric tons per year.

Commercial department are divided into three sections. Every section plays an important role overall activities of NTL. The commercial department is performing its role in the following ways:

Sales

Sales section follows the sales related sevices and communicates with the buyers. The API pipes (3/4 API to 8-5/8 API) are produced under the licence from American Petroleum Institute (API). These pipes are produced strictly according to the requirements of API Spec. Q1 & 5L. The Sole Buyer of Entire Quantity of API Pipes is Gas Transmission & Distribution Companies of Petrobangla i.e. Titas Gas, Bakhrabad Gas, Jalalabad Gas, Sundharban Gas, Karnafuly Gas and Pashchimanchal Gas Company. API Pipes are usd for Transmission & Distribution of Natural Gas & Oil.

Fire fighting company also uses these pipes for various purposes.  MS/GI pipes (1/2 inch to 4 inch dia) are produced according the British Standard BS-1387 and BS-729 which is equivalent to DIN 2444 and IS-4736. The GI pipes are used for water supply, irrigation and household affairs. In the financial year 2013-2014, actual sales were 6721 metric tons as against target of 7000 metric tons resuling 96.01% sales achievement of the target. In the same  financial year, NTL has earned a pre-tax profit of Tk. 12,35,51,000.00 (Twelve crore thirty five lacs fifty one thousand) which is 167.86% achievement of the target and deposited Tk.14,32,27,000.00 to the National Exchequer.

Foreign procurement

The Foreign procurement Section imports all such raw materials such as Hot Rolled Steel Strips, AZ/KZ brand Zinc Ingot and production reletad machinaries/ Spares Parts from well known Suppliers/Manufacturures of the World. The necessary C&F and Pre-shipment or Post-landing Inspection are also ensured by this section.

Local procurement

NTL needs various types of local materials, spares parts and services in efficiently running its production as well as official activities. This section always palys proactive role in meeting all needs of local materials and services of NTL.

I am very delighted to know that an exclusive interview of Engr. Dr. Md. Amirul Momin, Managing Director of NTL will be published by The Guardian, a leading and dedicated magazine of the country. In this opportunity I want to say something about Engr.Dr. Md. Amirul Momin. I have joined NTL as a Manager of Commercial depertment in 2010, then he was the Chief of Commercial department. While working with him, I found him always sincere and punctual in his work. He is always thought how the condition of Commercial department could be improved. As a good professional, one needs patience which I have found in him. He is a big hearted man. One important thing in his character is that he never angry with anyone. He can take any decision with much patience.

Not only that, he regularly communicates with every members of NTL family and inquires about their health, and other affairs. He also tries to solve the various problems in our family life. He maintains a good relationship with all the workers, staff & officers of NTL. Since the day he joined as the Managing Director of NTL, has been serving his best efforts wholeheartedly to move NTL forward into a unique Enterprise of Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation.

Due to his direct contribution, excellent relation with the official  authorities of  Gas Sector, hardworking and good leadership, NTL has earned a pre-tax profit of Tk. 12,35,51,000.00 (Twelve crore thirty five lacs fifty one thousand) in the year 2013-2014 and sales are increasing day by day.  His contribution to the commercial and professional development of NTL cannot be explained in this short article.  To see him from a close distance I developed much respect to him. While concluding, I pray may Allah grant him long life and good health.

I also hope that the cooperation of The Guardian will inspire NTL to reach its desired goal.
