Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid is Founding Managing Director, Bangladesh NGO Foundation.

He is Former Secretary to the Government and former Chairman of the National Borad of Revenue (NBR). Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mazid was made the first Chairman of the demutualized Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).

Dr. Mazid obtained Master’s degree in English literature from the University of Dhaka, did his Phd in Social Science. The title of his thesis was ‘Agro economy in the coastal belt of Bangladesh’. He started his career in the Bangladesh Bank, then joined Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS Audit and Accounts) Cadre in 1981.

Prior to retiring as the Secretary of the Internal Resource Division (IRD) under the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Chairman NBR as well, Mr. Mazid held various positions in the public service.
He was a member of the Planning Commission, worked in the Finance Division, MoF as Deputy, Joint and Additional Secretary. He was Director of the Board of Investment. Dr. Mazid served as Commercial Counsellor in the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo from 1994 to 2000. He hold higher positions in the Audit and Accounts Department prior to his joining the Economic Relations Division (ERD) of MoF as Director.

After retirement from public service Dr. Mazid joined Diabetic Association of Bangladesh as Chief Coordinator.

He also teaches finance, macro economics and capital market at the private universities and national training institutes. Apart from showing excellence as a public servant, Mazid has proved his skill in writing as well.

He authored 21 books on literature and socio-economic condition of Bangladesh. He is a member of the Governing Board of Human Development Foundation, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB), Centre for Zakat Management etc. He is the former Treasurer of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.

Muhammad Abu Taher Khan has work experience of more than 45 years across multiple sectors with particular expertise in administration, local government, management, planning, implementation and magistracy. He worked for Government, Non-Government Organizations and UN organizations that gave him a broad range of experience dealing with grass-root people, people’s representatives, high officials and local and international donor organizations.

He did his M.A. (Sociology) from the University of Dhaka and M.Sc. (Economics) from the University of Wales, UK. Besides, he has undergone training in the Universities and Institutions like, the National Institute for Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad, India; University of The Philippines, Manila, the Philippines; Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. He joined Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) in 1977 and retired as Joint Secretary to the Government in 2002. At the time his retirement he was working on lien in the UNDP as Co-ordinator of Sirajganj Local Governance Development Fund Project (SLGDP) of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives that had been financed by UNCDF and the UNDP.

Then he worked as the General Manager (Programme) of Social Development Foundation under the Ministry of Finance. He was responsible for implementation of Social Investment Program Project (SIPP), a pilot project designed for the benefit of poor villagers ranging from infrastructure development, awareness creation on women rights, education and health, youth development and safe water supply, hygiene and sanitation. Under funding from IDA and technical support of the World Bank, the project was initiated in 2 poorest districts (Gaibandha and Jamalpur) involving the Village Communities, NGOs, Local Government Institutions and Government Offices. He was responsible for community mobilization, motivation for contribution to infrastructure development and establishment of community ownership thereupon. He had to play the leading role for project selection, initiation, implementation, monitoring, social evaluation and maintenance after implementation with participation of local communities.

As the chief executive of Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF), he played a remarkable role in strategic planning for fund distribution to small NGOs, monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness of projects and programmes of those partner NGOs and thereby assisted the Government for attaining Millennium Development Goals. During his tenure there, under funding from the Ministry of Finance, BNF distributed 750 million Taka to 1047 small and medium NGOs those work for social development activities, education, health and sanitation, support to the disabled people, women and children affairs, gender issues, environment and agriculture and awareness creation on various aspects. He was also involved in planning for training, capacity building and expansion of activities of the partner NGOs at the same time associating them with other strategic partners and donors.

Pabna District (his home District) Swadhinota Utshob Committee awarded him a gold medal in 2009 for his outstanding contribution to the nation throughout his career as a public servant.

At present he works as Director Procurement and Corporate Affairs of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh. He is responsible for all sorts of procurement of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh as well as its subordinate Organizations, Institutions and Projects. At the same time he is responsible for all sort of corporate affairs of BADAS and all the subordinate organizations and institutions of BADAS.

Md. Shahria Parvez, The former Acting Managing Director of Bangladesh NGO Foundation (BNF) Mr. Md. Shahria Parvez was appointed by the order of Bank and Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance and then approval by Governing Board of the Foundation. He is the young and energetic officer. He is able to smoothly run the Foundation in his period. After getting nomination of Chairman of Foundation then, Governing Board constituted. During his period eleven meetings of Governing Board was held. He presented the foundation affairs to the meeting of Governing Board and he was able to implement the decisions. He also presented the Annual Report of BNF to the 9th Annual General Meeting on the 30th January 2015. Besides he took drives for the welfare of employees of BNF. At present he is working as a Deputy General Manager (Current Charge).

He placed in first position and joined as an Executive Officer on the 25th May 2006. He started his career in Bangladesh NGO Foundation. He is the first permanent officer of Bangladesh NGO Foundation. He was posted in programme unit. He delivered sincere and fair service to the NGOs. He thinks Governing Board of Bangladesh NGO Foundation is formed from the veteran and cream person from the government and society. So it is possible to deliver the best service to the NGOs. It is possible to contribute to poverty alleviation through the Foundation. Bangladesh NGO Foundation is the first organization supported by Government to provide grants to registered NGOs for the implementation of poverty alleviaition activities. Foundation is the exceptional and transparent organization for sincere service. He served to enlist 1000 Partner Organizations(POs). He is very glad to contribute in poverty alleviation throughout the country.
He studied at D.G.T Secondary School, Daulatpur and Kushtia Government College, Kushtia. Mr. Shahria obtained his BBA (Accounting) and MBA (Accounting) degree from Rajshahi University. In 2013 he also obtained MDS Degree (Masters in Development Studies) from East West University, Dhaka.
He was born on August 08, 1979 at village Gorura in upazila Daulatpur under the district of Kushtia. His father was a prominent and popular person in his village.

The name of his father is late Md. Musakalim Miah. He was the follower of Chishtia Tarika and also liked Baul Samrat Lalon Shah. He passed away on the 25th June 2014. He was the founder Headmaster of Pragpur High School, Daulatpur, Kusthtia and also an initiator of D.G.T. Secondary School, Daulatpur, Kusthtia. He contributed .65 acres land to establish a college named Adabaria Union College to enlighten education. He was the chairman of Managing Committee of Adabaria Union College, D.G.T. Secondary School and Gorura Govt. Primary School, Daulatpur, Kusthtia. He was devoted to help the poor people. He was a kind hearted and philanthropist person. He contributed enormously to build the educated people in his village. He donated .30 acres land from the core of his heart to establish the government hospital access in medical supports for the poor people. Before his death, he donated .05 acres land to rehabilitate disabled people and .20 acres land for the shelter of Pir Awaolia in the honour of Late Goriber Newaz Khaja Moinuddin Chishty Rahmatullahe near his home adjacent to the Mathavanga river. He distributed all his lands and properties among the sons and daughters by registering. He departed from the eternal world giving away all his properties.

His dearest elder brother Mr. Md. Mahbub-A-Siddique (Biplob) is a teacher of English of Pragpur High School and also the Chairman of Managing Committee of Adabaria Union College. His maternal uncles are also well established. His maternal uncles and elder brother helped him significantly to achieve the university degree. He has a small family with mother, wife and a son. He loves his mother very much.
