BAPEX, a state owned oil/gas exploration and production Company formed in 1989 has explored Saldanadi, shahbazpur, Sundalpur and srikail (4 nos.) gas fields in the country. Besides, it has drilled a number of appraisal/ production wells in those locations and drilled some workover well in the producing fields. At present BAPEX is drilling an exploratory well at Sunetra in Sunamgonj district. Construction Division, BAPEX is engaged in development works of all the drilling projects. The activities of Construction Division, BAPEX are to construct road and culverts, bridges, offices and residential buildings, deep water wells, ware houses, drilling facilities and different infrastructures.
Generally, both surface and sub-surface location of a hydrocarbon well is assigned by the Geoscientists after the Geological and Geophysical (G&G) survey of the project area. During assigning the surface location of a project, a group Civil Engineers of this Division remains there for ensuring well site development, man and machineries transportation, Geo-environmental factors, hydrocarbon processing, transmission and overall security of the project. After successful discovery of hydrocarbon the major issue is to process and to transmit it to the users. Construction Division is responsible to prepare process plant foundation and gathering/ transmission line works.
At present, this division also involves in construction of 13 storied BAPEX Bhaban at Kawranbazar C/A, Dhaka. It looks after all infrastructures of 5 nos. gas fields and, Zonal office complex, Ctg, Patenga Laboratory yard and Pomra explosive godown at Rangunia, Chittagong.
Hydrocarbon may be found in various types of places including the sea, mountains, deserts, rain forests, marshlands, and permafrost regions. As a result, different types of development works involved there. Sometimes, a long approach road, a high warehouse, shore protection walls may be required to be constructed by this division. Besides, this division also involved in sports, theatre and other cultural activities throughout the year. It also involves in socioeconomic activities to improve the social status of the distressed people specially in remote places throughout the country.
