The Chief Accounts office, Ministry of Roads Transport and Bridge is one of the Most important Chief Accounts Office of CGA Bangladesh. This office was known as CAO (communications) before 3rd September 2014. Both the pre-audit and Post-audit works are done by the Chief Accounts office. But for the amount of post audit works , this office is considered as Divisional Account Office.

The CAO, Ministry of Roads Transport and Bridges works as accounts office of the following organizations:

1. M A N Siddique, Secretary, Road Transport and Highway Division, Ministry of Roads Transport and Bridges.
2. Md. Firoz Salah Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Railway.
3. Khandakar Anowarul Islam, Secretary, Bridges Division.
4. Chief Engineer Office (Roads and Highways).
5. Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
6. BRTC.
7. DTCA (Dhaka Transport co-ordination Authority Autonomous body).

Most important ongoing project are as follows:
1) Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project.
2) Metro Rail Project etc.
3) Dhaka-Chittagong four lane Highway Project.
4) Joydevpur- Mymensing Road project.
5) The project for the construction of Second Kanchpur, Meghna and Gomti Bridges.
The CAO works as the financial adviser to the Secretary of Road Transport and Highway Division, Secretary of Ministry of Railway and Secretary of Bridges Division.

The Chief Accounts Office passes the salary and other bills of concerned office. CAO also prepare the monthly accounts collected from 118 divisions of Roads and Highways and appropriation accounts for each financial year timely.

From its very establishment in 1984 this office had been administrated by 23 experienced chief Accounts officers who are the Member of the BCS Audit and Accounts service, Mahmud Hasan Monsoor was the first chief Accounts officer who served with his dignity and efficiency from the year of 1984 upto 1987. Dr. Tanzina Islam joined the office as chief Accounts officer on 5 may 2014. After her joining in the CAO, this office is working with dynamism and inspiration.
